Las Vegas – The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce today announced that Chamber President and CEO Kristin McMillan will step down from her position on December 31, 2017, after more than six years leading the largest, broadest-based business association in the state.

Under McMillan’s leadership, the Metro Chamber developed extensive resources to help businesses succeed and convened a multitude of opportunities for business people to build connections with each other and the community. This has included the introduction of top-notch leadership, policy and educational publications, programs and events to keep business and community leaders informed, connected and involved. Known as the “voice of business” for its comprehensive and successful government advocacy to advance and protect the interests of business, the Metro Chamber also has played a leadership role in every major economic development and infrastructure initiative in this community, contributing significantly to the tremendous progress that Southern Nevada has made over the last several years recovering from the Recession and rebuilding a vibrant economy.

“It has been an honor to serve our members and champion the Southern Nevada business community for these last six years as CEO and, prior to that, as chairman of the board,” McMillan said. “It is an extremely difficult decision to leave such a meaningful job. I will greatly miss working with our membership, our community partners and the entire Chamber team – employees who inspire me every day, a dedicated board  and engaged volunteers, all of whom have worked together so well over these past years to serve our businesses, advance a pro-business agenda and heighten the leadership and reach of this Chamber. I am confident the Las Vegas Metro Chamber is in an excellent place to continue building on our successes.”

“Kristin is an outstanding leader and advocate on behalf of business, and can take pride in her many accomplishments and community contributions,” said Bill Noonan, Chairman of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce. “Since assuming the CEO’s position in 2011, Kristin has built an exceptional team at the Metro Chamber, all of them tremendous advocates for its members and the Las Vegas community. One needs to look no further than the successful, pro-business outcome of the 2017 Nevada legislative session to see the positive results that Kristin and her team have been delivering for our members, each and every day. While we will miss Kristin, I have every confidence that the team she has built will continue the successful implementation of the Chamber’s mission.”

The Las Vegas Metro Chamber immediately will begin a search for McMillan’s successor and the open position will be posted on the Metro Chamber’s website at www.LVChamber.com. “The Chamber board believes it is vital that our next CEO knows the Las Vegas Valley and state of Nevada well,” Noonan said. “We are unique, and the business community here has unique challenges and opportunities. We believe our membership and communities will be best served by a Chamber CEO who understands those challenges and opportunities and can build upon the great stature and brand of the Chamber that exists today.”

Upon departure, McMillan will pursue opportunities that will divide her time between Nevada and Washington, D.C.
