Las Vegas – Today, Vegas Chamber President and CEO Mary Beth Sewald issues a statement applauding Governor Joe Lombardo and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Director Tom Burns for their trade mission to Canada to expand economic opportunities.

 

During the trip, Governor Lombardo signed an economic cooperation MOU with Ontario Premier Doug Ford related to critical minerals and green energy.  Mining and clean energy are two of Nevada’s growing industries. Additionally, Director Burns signed a Declaration of Intent with Martine Biron, Minister of International Relations, and La Francophonie of Québec to develop greater connections between Quebec and Nevada regarding the electric vehicle battery sector.

 

The delegation of Nevada elected officials and business leaders including Sewald, toured Montreal-based companies that are doing business in Nevada including CAE and Cirque du Soleil.

 

“Diversifying and growing the Nevada economy takes looking outside our state for new economic prospects and partnerships. The Vegas Chamber applauds Governor Lombardo and GOED Director Burns for leading this trade mission to Canada to build international relationships are integral to a strong economy, job creation, and economic development,” said Sewald.
